The word has long since been used as a derrogatory term associated with slut-shaming, used to define girls who cater to a specific group of (mostly) heterossexual males typically identified as gamers, weeaboos and incels ("involuntary celibates"). Donning 'sexy' anime-inspired, a big clevage or sometimes adopting a docile, innocent personna, these so-called e-girls are deemed attention-seekers.
