No matter what the media tells you, there is no such thing as victory over the coronavirus, there is only not losing more than what has already been lost (from lives to jobs to rights).

Not losing more lives, businesses, jobs, and rights isn't victory, it's only an end to loss.

Not losing more lives, businesses, jobs, or rights isn't victory, it's an end to the spread of (and fuel for) the wildfire, an end to the loss of everything.

Pink Victory!

When you absolutely own someone and even though you win the argument you still don't get to do what you wanted to do for a completely different reason, but you can still go away with a smug feeling. Just to rub it in their faces you could shout Shame at them and rub your two pointing fingers together at them.

There is a normal queue and a fast track queue for zorbing.
Zorb Operator: All people in pink shirts please go to the back of the normal queue because your fast-track time has expired.
Peeps in Pink Shirts: No, I'll get my Mum on you!
Mum: Let them have a go now!!
Zorb Operator: No...
You: Shame (do the shame gesture)
Zorb Operator: Actually it's too windy now so you'll all have to go home...

You leave annoyed that you didn't get a go but very smug that you completely owned those pink people...

spite-victory

The act of committing all of your efforts to stopping a particular rival from winning a competitive game/event once you realise you have no way of winning yourself.

Game of monopoly: 3 players left

"John you will give me all of your properties for only $500". "Yeh Jimmy sure, as long as you let me go around the board 3 times without having to pay rent". Cheeky smirk to the Bryn. John i'l give you $5000 for all of your properties and allow you not to pay rent on my properties for 3 turns. "Nah Bryn thats fine, i'm going to stick with Jimmy's deal".

As a result Bryn is quickly knocked out of the game, after which John immediately insults Bryn about how bad he is at the game, forfeits to Jimmy and enjoys the glory of his spite-victory.
