back forty

The back forty' is a beloved American idiom. In the US, 1 township is 36 square miles (6 miles by 6 miles). Each square mile (a section of land) is divided into 16 subdivisions of 40 acres (1/4 mile by 1/4 mile)-- so a quarter section is 160 acres, a common unit of ownership in the early days of farming. The quarter-section farmer would own two 'front 40s' and two 'back 40s

Backseat Moderator

A message board user who, though they do not actually hold the position of moderator, has some twisted sense of duty which they feel they must fulfill. This user seems to believe that the moderator is a retarded monkey that needs to be led around by the hand and told which threads need to be locked or deleted.

The backseat moderator can often be seen jumping up and down and frantically waving their arms, trying to draw attention to a thread which surely is offensive and stupid to the highest degree and must be locked immediately. In reality, the real moderator has probably looked at the topic and seen nothing which crosses the line.

The backseat moderator may also be a backseat administrator, letting everyone know which users need to be banned. Though the backseat moderator is irritating, there is nothing which can be done unless the real authority on the board takes matters into its own hands, and ejects them from the board in a hilarious example of irony.
"This topic is dumb. Lock it please!"
"Ban this guy, he's a moron!"

oriental hang back

The "Oriental Hang Back" to a faux exit from a party or other social event in which the Oriental Hang Backer initially agrees to leave with their friends but subsequently decides to stay without informing their friends. Excuses such as "I'm just going to find the bathroom quickly - I'll meet you guys outside" are often used as an excuse to return to the bar, dance floor or a romantic acquaintance and continue doing what they were doing before they agreed to leave in the first place. Oriental Hang Backing can often be blamed on extreme intoxication, horniness, or FOMO. The term is an antonym to the Irish Exit.
Friend: "Hey man, what happened to you last night? We waited outside for like 20 minutes while you were in the bathroom but the girls got cold so we had to take them home..."
Hang Backer: "Sorry dude. I pulled an oriental hang back and kept trying to make out with some blonde I had just met at the bar..."
Friend: "thanks for the text you fucker... please tell me you were at least successful"
Hang Backer: "Nah, apparently she was a waitress there so her manager kicked me out. I was hammered."
