Music Theory

Basically, a way of analyzing music.

Specifically, music theory is made up of laws, rules, labels and other insights regarding Western music (particularly its harmonic tendencies), pioneered by a man named Rameau.

Music came first, theory came after.
In Music Theory, Roman numeral labels are given to chords in relation to a melodic key center. IV-V-I is the strongest cadence in Western harmony.

Roxy Music

A band formed in the early 70's by Bryan Ferry and Brian Eno. Some say they wrote the very first punk song "Editions of You." However, they are most known for their hits in the 80's like "Avalon" and "More than This".
They are a big influnence on many musicans. Similar in style to David Bowie. They are the main influence on Bands like Duran Duran and the Cure.
Roxy Music is one of my favorite bands.

pop music

Popular music. A collective genre, also referred to as Pop, Chart Music, Top 40, or Hits, it primarily focuses on wide circulation, sales and the marketability of the "artists" than on creative or artistic content. Pop can range from Dance, R&B, Rap, Country and Rock, but is generally the most "diluted" form of any genre it emulates. Pop songs generally have a 3-minute, hook/verse structure (although many ballads have made it to the charts) written for immediate likability, often written by corporate record label executives, and "pushed" by a front-person or people, commonly referred to as the artist or artists.
When initially identifying a pop artist, mass production and circulation are the biggest indicators. Check mainstream media/entertainment outlets, such as MTV, VH1, E!, Rolling Stone magazine, or the "New Releases" or "Heavy Rotation" section of the local music store.

Music Lover

A person who not only loves their favorite music, but accepts all music, and does not insult other bands, singers, etc. If you truely love music, then you love all music, not just your favorite band or singer.
“Never underestimate a girl’s love for her favorite band. Never think even for a minute, that she won’t defend them to her death. Because it’s not just the music that makes that band her favorite. It’s the guys, the gals. It’s the fans. People whom of which she has interacted with thanks to the band. That band might of saved her life, or just made her smile everyday. That band has never broke her heart and has yet to leave her. No wonder she finds such joy in her music.”

music bomb

to break out into song in a public place that typically does not have music at an unexpected time (no posters, no facebook events. well orchestrated, executed and completely random)

similar to picture bombing, but with music
Example 1: "Dude, did you hear that Andy walked into a random biology lecture class with an electric guitar, a massive amp, and a microphone and started riffing Baba O'Riley by The Who?"

"No way! I would have loved to music bomb that class!"

Example 2: "Andy brought an old school boombox into the Student Union, belted "You Raise Me Up" by Josh Groban, and left. We have just received confirmation that was a music bomb."

"I wish Andy would have consulted me about that music bomb, I play a wicked saxophone."
