The replacement of the word “ese” used by Mexican prison and street gang Norteños , as their rivals are Sureños , they cut out the “S” and replace it with an “N” to symbolize their gang name and mock the Sureños . Also the letter “S” is pronounced “ese” in the Mexican Alphabet , this also adds to why the word is changed when Norteños say it .
