Get the Utopian standard mug.A major social problem that arises when an individual sets their romantic expectations and standards too high for decent people, who the individual likes, to be able to achieve. Normally it is fine to have some standards, but when descent people are unable to fulfill those expectations because of the large number of them and or because the expectations require extremely large amounts money and resources, require the individual to be in perfect physical shape that most people are not able to achieve, and or require the individual to be skilled at doing things that most people don’t know how to do that well, then the individual's expectations may be set too high. This is highly unethical to do, because extremely high standards tend to be very unreasonable and can prevent decent people from being able to get into a romantic relationship due to factors far beyond control.
Annabeth: Why is Emma so upset?
Lauren: She was in a relationship with a Johnny, but he dumped her because she supposedly didn't fulfill his expectations. The thing was his expectations were very unreasonable to begin with. He expects his partner to have flat abs, not to talk to other boys at all, and spend most of her time with him.
Annabeth: He sounds very inconsiderate. I am sure she will find someone better than him who knows how to treat their partner with respect. It sounds like Emma is another victim of the High Romantic Standards Dilemma.
Lauren: Agreed.
