Goth style without content. a new trend that muggles (non-magical, common folk) may confuse with goths. They dress in black, wear hipster hats, circular sun glasses, crosses, inverted crosses that they claim to be satanic crosses, however these "satanic crosses" are actually St Peters cross and are really still christian, triangles, band tops that they probably don't actually listen to and most of the time aren't even goth.
The black clothing is about as goth as it gets really. they aren't really interested in anything really dark nor do they actually listen to any goth music!! not even industrial. Music doesn't seem to be a major factor amongst tumblr goths and they seem to be more concerned with who re-blogs their OOTD. it seems everything they know comes from tumbr and topshop and since tumbr isn't a great site for information, we now have a gothesque subculture that has spread with out any content.
nor does there seem to be any desire to become educated in goth culture or any other subculture that inspired their style

The romantic goth embodies what the original gothic style of arcitecture and liturature were all about: romance, decadance,an ornate asthetic,and the view that darkness and beauty are one in the same.
They have an appreciation for vintage clothing from many eras, but most have a particular fondness for the Victorian style. It was during the Victorian era that the gothic liturature movement emerged. Most romantic goths are avid readers of books from that movment and books in general.
They tend to be creative, imaginative, idealistic, sentimental, and have a love for all things old fashioned.

Nu Goth is a Sub Genre of the gothic community heavily rooted and influenced by traditional gothic music, esthetics and philosophy. Popular bands among Nu Goths include Siouxie & The Banshees, Bauhaus, and Switchblade Symphony among many others from the Batcave and Post-punk era. It is important to note Nu Goth culture supports and encourages self discovery above all else. Within the culture, Nu Goths are encouraged to listen to all genres of music to expand their sense of self. For this reason it is not uncommon to run into Indie Nu Goths or Industrial Nu Goths. Nu Goths are deeply philosophical by nature and have a great interest in studying the human condition often thru Psychology, Philosophy, and the Occult. For this reason occult clothing and symbology is a vast part of the Nu Goth esthetic and culture.
Apparently made from the tears of Cure singer Robert Smith, Goth juice is an item found on cult comedy show the Mighty Boosh. It has also recently been made into a real hair product produced by smelly store Lush.

The original style of goth that developed in the 80's. Fashion, make-up, accessories, and hair are a mix of vampire style, punk, glam, and BDSM. Articles of clothing can include fishnet shirts, mesh tops, fishnet stocking, vinyl pants, skirts, and tops, trench coats, military jackets, funerary clothes, zoot suits, and leather jackets. Nearly all trad goths sport the ever classic and varied styles of teased, backcombed dark hair. Classic inspirations on trad goth styles are: Peter Murphy, Daniel Ash, Siouxsie Sioux, Robert Smith, Simon Gallup, Johnny Slut, Olli Wisdom, and Patricia Morrison.
Sitting around under a shady tree in the park on a hot sunny day are a group of goths of varying styles. When suddenly, the notice a goth whom they had never seen before walking his dog.
Victorian goth: He's certainly an unusual fellow....I don't think I recall seeing him around before.
Colonial goth: Is he a goth? He certainly gives that vibe. But kind is he?
Death Rocker: His hair is all teased up and sort of spikey but without the gel.
Rivethead/Industrialist: He's wearing a dark trench coat.
Corperate goth: Yes, but he's wearing a white dress-up shirt underneath.
Cybergoth: But look what's underneath the shirt! Why it's a meshtop!
