According to legend Pilot the Dune referst to a French wartime firefighter pilot named Pierre LaDune. As a firefighter pilot, his main duty was dropping water on fires. He was known as Pilot: LaDune, or Pilot the Dune, if you will. Whenever he would drop water to extinguish fires he thought of it as "raining", and when it rained, he felt love. Stoner rock band Slo Burn based the title and theme of their song 'Pilot the Dune' on Pierre LaDune.

Princess Pilot

A "Princess Pilot" is a term used in aviation slang to describe a pilot who prefers to fly only in ideal weather conditions (VFR, clear skies) and typically operates high-performance, modern, and well-equipped aircraft—often featuring glass cockpits, autopilot, and cruise speeds above 140 knots. This pilot tends to avoid challenging conditions such as turbulence, IMC, or older, less luxurious aircraft.

The term can imply a degree of selectiveness, inexperience, or aversion to adversity, and is sometimes used with a humorous or lightly critical tone within pilot communities.
