Hangin' out

A fun, non-formal relationship between 2-3 people who are hooking up. Differs from a booty call as hangin’ out can include conversation, cuddling, back scratches and massages. Differs from dating as the participants are not officially a couple (or threesome). While hangin’ out, condoms should always be used.

"Hangin' out" - She said they were "Hangin’ out" because he made her smile and she made him smile when they were together through a variety of actions, but there was no pressure on either party to be an official couple.

Young hip (primarily black) people use this to mean "out of line," or behaving in a way that is unacceptable under the circumstances.

Old business people use this to mean unreachable by the usual means.

If you are both a hip black person and a business person, colleagues' use of this term in the latter context can be both ambiguous and amusing.

1) You ate the last hot wing off my plate? Yo, you out of pocket, son.

2) Sorry I'm just responding now, I was out of pocket all day yesterday.
