Bog Yankee

A New England Irish redneck typically from Connecticut but can also be from Rhode
Island and southeastern Massachusetts especially the Blackstone Valley.

Bog Yankees are descended from pre-famine laborers and are the black sheep of Irish American Society. They are characterized as "a bit dodgy"; impulsive folk with variable common sense, skilled with tools and building, clever speakers who reject modern trends,
typically hunt or fish and have no problems drinking beer that resembles a huge espresso.

They can found throughout their native range, usually in Irish American Homes, political quagmires, city police forces and REAL bars. Most avoid family history for good reason, but the term is used with pride, especially when mingling with Swamp Yankees.
