Scene kids are often confused with those belonging to the emo kid culture.
Which they pretty much are, except for a few key factors.
First off, A scene GIRL's clothing:
Headbands
Bold Prints
Dyed hair
Long fake pearl necklaces
Choppy, often odd {dyed} hair
Alot of make up
Skinny Jeans
Big Sunglasses
Either a big canvas-bag type purse, or a small clutch with a bow on it or something
Polka Dots
Dinosaurs
Comic book heroes
Robots
Slip on vans
Converse
Big, odd rings
Shoe laces with pictures or writing on them
And a variety of other little kid like stuff.

A scene guy often attributes more to emo than the girls, the girls looking more preppy than emo.

Scene Guy's Appearance:
Bandana tied around face, hanging out of pants, and tied around thigh.
Often weirder, choppier, died hair than the girls, yet some go for a more simpler, hard core / emo do.
Tight pants
Ocaisonal make up
Tight vintage shirts
Studded belts
Converse Chucks
Vans slip ons
Various sized Gauges
Big Sunglases
Ocaisonial ripped skinny jeans
And so on.

The girls & guys tend to share appearances, and most look a little like indie rockers.

Personality wise, both boy & girl probably have pimped out myspaces, some are vegitarian, vegan, & sraightedge, most listen to anything from hardcore to electronica, most use gangsta references in their speach, most cuss, some are concieted, some are big club goers, most are bi, most live in California, some skateboard, most go to alot of shows, and they tend to hand out mainly only with eachother.
Though bashed alot for being "emo", most would probably kick your ass if you called them that, and go smoke a cigarette. They are highly advanced at html, livejournal, myspace, and the internet.
Though some are similar to emos, they're mostly rich white kids trying to be unique.

A commonly hated-on subculture.

Scene kids favor tight pants, dinosaurs, and moshing.

bitchy girl: eww she's like so scene don't touch her! you'll get cooties!

normal person: uh... that's just how she wants to be. if she wants to mosh & yell "rawr" all the time, that's her choice.

bitchy girl: yeah... well... (denial).. fuck off!

1. Any cultural or subcultural grouping such as the "skate scene," the "jock scene," the "punk scene," etc. Most recently, those who have become part of the sad, false genre known as "emo," have become so embarassed about themselves that they have adopted the word "scene" or "scene kid" in a pathetic attempt to mask their involvement in the most unoriginal trend ever to infect music and fashion. Most emo clones who call themselves scene kids tend to be older; an emo clone with a driver's license.

I am not an emo kid, even though I look like every other emo kid and listen to emo bands, I am a scene kid so stop making fun of me...I have a driver's license and everything!

typical scene boy.

obesessed with chick pants and undersized shirts.
stud belts and bandanas.
hardxcore dancing.
and kissing all the other scene boys.
they dye their hair jet black and have emo bangs. {bangs that cover on eye. usually the right one }

they listen to rad bands like.
a heartwell ending, atreyu, hellogoodbye, frou frou, and so many more.
they love screamo, emo, techno, hardxcore, ultraxsex, industrial and indie music.

typical scene girl.

loves headbands and bandanas folded in their back left pockets.
dyes their hair many colors and usually has their hair layered and bangs.
usually wears a lot of bracelets.
and shops at thriftxcore stores.
dresses vintage.
wears outdated things, like pokemon and just lame little kid stuff that no one else can copy.
loves it when emoscene boys make out with other little hardcore cuties.
wears too many beads and gages their ears.
wears slip on vans sneakers. and clothes that make the unscene people stare.
lots of makeup.

all scene boys and chicks have a myspace!
with the myspace mirror shots.
and all the little girls and boys make guns with their fingers and point them at their heads. and write on the photo. "gun plus gun equals bang bang bang" oh how hardcore.
and only the emo myspacexscene kids write like this. " LYKE OHMAHGAH!!11323?1 FO' SERIOUS?1!#%@123?!"
they make fun of gangsters. and say "wherrd, yo, niggs, dawg, and gangster" they make peace signs and so many faces that they could make a book.

The current trend. The girls and guys have the same haircuts. They try to make it look "naturally messy" and cut it themselves, but they use tons of hairspray and pomade. They wear tight pants and dye random hair sections white while the rest is black. They wear tight band shirts, white studded belts, and dark jeans sometimes rolled once. They wear New Balances or Aasics. They MUST have a myspace or else. They MUST take millions of pictures and wear eyeliner regardless of their sex. They like to take pictures of themselves holding signs that say "OMGZ ADRIENNE YOU ARE THE SEXXX!" And they like to use words like "haute" all the time and they type all funny.

Scene 

scene kids or commonly now refered to as scenesters as well as the large ego and vanity share a largte interest in vanity groups of myspacewhich require general attractiveness, 1000+ picture comments and/or 2000 myspace friends, for example.
This subculture from the emo phase is aspired to by many youths, But the major rule on this subculture is the inability to call yourself a scene kids as the result causes one to then become a wannabe. so calling yourself scene is not allowed but many apsire to be scene without 'trying'. in effect another label thrown around to deny.
Scene kids are very opinionated and follow some form of art, and their dress sense orginates from that of emo with bright vibrant colours thrown in for shock value. the crazy hair styles are used to turn heads, males taking longer hair whilst females can vary from many back brushed types to 'dykish' types of the short nature.
they share a loothing of many people and come across rather arrogant.
They use other labels slang but teh use has beocme so frequent it is now their own, making the whole idea very ironic.
