A person with hair a shade of red or orange. My personal favourite hair colour, it is the rarest hair colour to possess. Around 1 in 50,000 people have red hair. A large number of males are particularly attracted to red-headed females, a lot having something of a fetish for them. Red-headed males get the shorter end of the stick, usually victims to bullying etc. They are also thought to usually have pale skin and freckles. True redheads additionally possess green eyes.
Immature people insult redheads, insults include 'ginger', 'fire-crotch' and 'carrot-top'. I also want to add to any redheads reading this, be proud of your hair colouring, it's hot~! (Excuse the pun)

Guy 1: "Wow, look at that redhead!"

Redhead usually denotes a woman with red hair, especially of the stereotype, since it's more or less a pejorative. If used for a man, it's usually to make fun of him for being redheaded.
In many men it evokes a certain traditional image of a beautiful pale skinned woman with long, red, curly tresses and a certain amount of freckles.

Redheaded Stepchild

Treated with dislike, distaste, much the same as a "second class citizen." Less important. Ostracized, at times.
(If the stepchild had red hair, and the parent didn't, people would assume that the parent was the step-parent. This is obviously an ignorant assumption, since the gene for red hair is not a "dominate" gene, but a "recessive" gene -- it would skip generations before showing up again.)

In the state of Alabama, it is well known that Auburn University will always be the Redheaded Stepchild to the University of Alabama, when pertaining to football and all other things athletic - and chess. RTR!
