so basically some random shit my dad said while he was hungover after goin to his buddy’s funeral. upon me questioning what the hell it meant he responded “death, the end of the book, life is all journey moving on to the next universe and next chapters”

example 1:

“there went the story” the utterly shitfaced crossfaded man exclaims at the end of the movie.

example 2:
“there went the story” the sophisticated woman announced as the plot of the tale completely lost all meaning and logic.

What Columbo would say if he was asked to collect da testimony of irate 'n' bickering witnesses who would need to be verbally placified and encouraged to get along wif each other so dat they could all speak coherently while relating to said famous detective what they saw.

What with Columbo's inherently calm and unassuming manner, he put people at ease, and so if he said, "I reckon I can peace the story together" during an investigation, you could generally count on his being able to do so.

When someone asked you to explain events that happened in the past you sit them down, tell them how it all began and just as it is getting interesting say "-and that's the whole story." and pretend as if you have told them everything. It makes fun of TV shows that used this as a way to save episode time instead of repeating everything the viewers just saw.
