They are called Tar because tar is black like oil, it's hot like burning oil, and it will kill you like oil companies will kill you for your oil. They are called ticks because they won't stop taking the oil until they're dead. This insult is usually used against Anti-Socialist/Communist groups and deniers of global warming.
