The literal English translation of this word is hypocrite. This word comes from Arabic origin and can be found in the Holy Quran.
Chapter 63 of the Holy Quran is entitled "Al-Munafiqun" which means "The Hypocrites" the arabic suffix "un" makes the word "munafiq" from singular into a plural form.
