1. To achieve a high mark on a test or exam and act upset about it, in hopes of having everyone else think that your standards are remarkably high.
2. To achieve 100% on a test or exam and wait for someone to ask how you did on it so that you can respond with "oh I did OK" and then hide the test in your notebook hoping that the person finds it later on and thinks that you are the most modest person in the world.
3. To ask someone what they got on their test in hopes that they ask you what you got on yours. (This can be combined with 1 and 2)

A - What did you get on your physics?
B - I just barely passed, how did you do?
A - Oh I passed too. (hides test in an easy to find place hoping that B sees it out of the corner of his eye.)

moderately modest

A term coined by the Australian tiktoker, @sarahbada_, to describe fashion that can include tops that cover the breast to mid stomach and bottoms that can go up to just above the knee or to mid thigh. However these requirements are loosely used as comprises are made often, eg. a crop top and show more stomach is the bottoms are high waisted or a dress can be backless if the entire front is covered.

Talia: Wow, I think this top would look nice on you! Do you think it fits your style?

Sarah: Yes! It is perfectly moderately modest!

a modest proposal

A Modest Proposal is when somebody suggests that eating babies might not be such a bad idea. This is taken from the satirical book of the same name written by Jonathan Swift in 1729. He frankly suggested that poor people ought to sell their children as food to the upper class in order to stimulate the economy and bring Ireland out of a sort of depression. Here's an excerpt: "A young healthy child well nursed, is, at a year old, a most delicious nourishing and wholesome food, whether stewed, roasted, baked, or boiled; and I make no doubt that it will equally serve in a fricassee, or a ragoust."

Jane- "That infant child looks delicious. I think we should eat him."

John- "That sounds like a modest proposal to me."
