The act of requesting someone to be your friend on facebook.com, in which they can accept or reject you. If they accept, you can look at their page, but if they reject, you cannot see their page.

Person1: Im "friending" Lisa on facebook right now, i hope she accepts!
Person2: Oh im going to "friend" her when i get home as well!

going friending

the process of sending out multiple friend requests in a short time period, typically using one friends list as a treasure trove. This is usually done at night on facebook, using the network page or a popular friend as a jumping off point for multiple requests to many people that you might/might not know.

"How did you get that hot girl on ur friends list?" -Jim
"I go friending all the time using the school network" -bob
"Awesome, maybe I should sit at home and annoy people i barely know too!"-Jim

"I met all these girls by going friending in my spare time"
