A specific melodic progression commonly used in Indian music.
Desi: Hey bhai bro how was the beat of the song
Non-Desi: Sounded Ding-A-Ling-A to me.
Desi: Bhai bro you mean it started on a tonic, went up by a semitone, played that note eight times, did that whole sequence three times, then went up by another semitone on the fourth bar.
Non-Desi: Like C-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D C-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D C-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D C-D-Eb-Eb-Eb-Eb-Eb-Eb-Eb
Desi: Haan yes Bhai bro you are very smart.

Scott: I surprised my wife with some ding-a-ling bling.
Jeremy: How did she like that?
Scott: She loved it. She said it made everything sparkle.
