Their relationship is not open, but it is a mutual understanding among the parties that major things in the relationship still need to be addressed, in order to move forward into a committed and exclusive relationship, or not.
I am in a datationship with a person I'm dating. We are not exclusive, and we have the option to date other people. But we are taking our time to make sure we are ready for a committed relationship or not.
