conversational decay

Conversational decay refers to the amount of time it takes for a conversation with a stranger to die down to stagnation.

In-person:

Let's say you met someone from your class or work for the first time and start talking about mutual interests, the decay of that conversation wouldn't be as quick. Therefore, it's reasonable to state that the conversational decay would be somewhere between 30 minutes to an hour.

Online:

If you meet someone on Discord for the first time and start a regular conversation with them, it is estimated that it may take between 1 minute to a few weeks for your conversation to completely stagnate with them.

The person Harry matched up with on Bumble seemed pretty promising but, the conversational decay was under 10 minutes.

1. A place or thing that promotes conversation.

2. When you don't have another word to describe something.

See that paint color? It's very conversational.

See his Afro? It's very conversational? I could talk about it all day.

Do you like the furniture placement? 'Yes, it's very conversational.'

How does that make you feel? 'I feel...very conversational.'

Can also be used sarcastically. Look at that turtle! It's very conversational.

Condensation Handshake

Soon after interacting with or handling a condensed surface more than likely, but not limited to, a cold beverage, and then proceeding to shake someone's hand.

I was waiting for my interview to start while sipping on my iced coffee from DunkBucks, when the manager came through the door to greet me. I placed the iced coffee down from my right hand, and gave him a stern condensation handshake. I saw his grimace when our two hands met, and I just knew this would affect my chances of getting the job. The interview proceeded with some obvious awkwardness as I didn't get a chance to mention the reason why my hand was wet. Maybe he thought I just washed my hands? Perhaps he thinks I find it sexually attractive that enjoy pissing on my hands and shaking random stranger's hands? Whatever the case may have been, I finished the interview with the best of my abilities, but sadly did not get the job. I look back on this time everyday of my life and think, "what if?" as the condensation handshake was really the underlying reason I didn't get the job. It's okay though, I never truly lost my fated destiny for a career at DunkBucks. Thanks DunkBucks, you're my only friend.

A Conversationalist is someone who engages in conversations frequently and is an expert at it. Their speech and ways of talking is exceptional compared to others.
