A slang, derogatory, term used to refer to a remote control of an electronic device, possibly originating in Californian dialect. This is due to most early remotes being black in color, and will "get up" to change the channel to the TV, adjust the volume, etc..

"I need to change the channel. Have you seen the buckwheat?"
