Any Apostrophe used inappropriately where a word is plural but not a contraction or a possessive. Much like the opposite of the Harvard Comma, the Community College Apostrophe is used by the uneducated and grammatically ignorant.

Apostrophenate

To replace a letter in a non-conjunction word with an apostrophe. (most commonly replacing the "g" at the end of a word ending in "ing")
It's easy to apostrophenate "darling", just make it "darlin' ".
"Darlin' " is the apostrophenated version of "darling".

The main difference between a straight and a curly apostrophe is that a curly apostrophe curves towards the text, and a straight apostrophe is just a short vertical line placed slightly above the letters it’s inserted between.
