materiality

The singer/songwriter Madonna's hit song "Material Girl" in the 1980's first used the term materiality in response to a reporters question about her hit song a decade prior. She described it in the interview: "...I feel materiality is part of who we are, the texture of our life. I just wouldn't be able to perform to my best without a real sense of it each time I appear on stage".

The materiality of our existence is one where lines, objects, and places have their own distinct awareness of themselves compared to the forms and feelings of adjacent spaces.

Material gworl

Material gworl, a word that is used by youngsters mainly of generation 'Z', and a little by generation 'Alpha'. Before, it meant someone who focused on materialistic things and chased after them, but now, it is used to describe someone who acts like, as the young ones say, 'Baddie'. Essentially, people use this word to describe those who are confident, know what they want and can get what they want by themself. Sometimes it is used in a satirical way with the heart eyes emoji, '😍'.

Example : "I broke up with my boyfriend because he wasn't treating me right."

"Oh my god, material gworl 😍 slay bestie 💅"

A person who is very concerned about their social status and wealth. Usually encountered in luxury stores and behavior includes not looking prices when shopping. Often wears luxurious clothes, accessories just for the looks and doesn’t care how much does it cost.

”Wow, Stephanie you have brand new Chanel Nine boots and Gucci bag. Those must be expensive!”
