Usually a white person, their activites include cutting, crying, writing poetry, and doing non-people things. When sad can be really really depressed. Emos' can also be used for curb stomps. (teeth pressed lightly on a curb, while another person rapidly steps on back of head. Leading to emo with no teeth.)

Get the Emomug. I consider myself a true emo. I myself, unlike all you narrow-minded idiots can appreciate the true definition! I believe a true emo is one who doesn't uphold the stereotypical image or even anything else.
Like most things it comes from the music. If "emo" was taken as literally as it is, then fucking everything and anyone is an emo! Emo in it's truest sense comes from the emotive hardcore music. I am about the music. So stop generalizing and being so narrow-minded, we are all individuals. (Maybe except the conformists of the sub-cultures.)

Get the Emomug. As Is The Word Goth, Emo Has Become Something Of A Stereotyping Mainstream. A Stereotypical Emo Would Cut Themself, Cry All The Time, Cover Their Face With Hair, Wear Tight Clothing And Listen To Rock Songs About Depression And Heartbreak. But In Reality Emo Is Just A Word So That Some People Can Feel Like They Belong, While Others Use It A Tool To Place Someone In A Catagory (Which May Or May Not Even Be Correct).

I am an emo, so I figured this would be the best way for you numbskulls to get it through your minds. "Emo" IS short for "emotional". To be emo, you have to listen to the music, i.e. My Chemical Romance, Aiden, Underoath, etc, etc wear the clothes, i.e. skinny jeans, studs, etc, etc and have the personality. Now, personality is the biggie here. An emo personality is not always depressing, oh, and hint hint, EMO'S. DO. NOT. HAVE. TO. CUT. Emo's do, however, need to be a bit shy, poetic, and generally pretty intelligent. Emo's are also usually very, very nice people. Most of them, now I say most, not all, understand hurt. Generally emo's are shunned from society, but they're always willing to talk to someone. Emo's are sensitive, and only want their thoughts to be heard. Emo's do not always cut, are not always depressed, don't wear just black, and aren't freaks. They're people.

Get the Emomug. Emo, short for Emotional. Pretty much your definition right there. A whole bunch of sorrow filled people, who listen to downtrodden music which lyrics usually consist of groans and moans of past relationships that went wrong and they take there pain to the extreme. Typically "cutters" or, people who cut themselves when they are upset to release their emotional pain (which is very unhealthy by the way.) Majority of Emo's are homo/bi-sexual. Usually "Punks" do not get along with them. ("Indie sux, hard-line sux, EMO SUX, you suck!"-Antiflag)
