They are some of the most chill people out there in my opinion
I can be myself around them and talk about Mcr and Fob non-stop and they wont even be irritated
Unlike some people emo's are okay with admitting that they are to confirming to a group
The real ones know that they are not "making a statement" or
"Trying to rebel against society"
Maybe they just thought that it would be nice to wear band merch with some black skinny jeans
Not all emo's are depressed
In fact some of the happiest people I've ever met were emo they were probably just faking it but they weren't going around writing poems and songs about it

Get the emo-punk mug.Originally short for emotive hardcore, a subgenre of hardcore punk and post hardcore catagorized by more personal, emotional, and confessional lyrics. It is not a shitty subculture of edgy teenagers who are desperately trying to be unique and different, those are just scene kids. No, chances are if you see it on a shirt at Hot Topic, it is not an emo band (Or a screamo band for that matter).
Some examples of emotive hardcore bands are:
Embrace,
Rites of Spring,
Moss Icon,
Indian Summer,
Dag Nasty
Emo more commonly also refers to another genre known as midwest emo, indie emo, or simply just emo. This type of emo is more closely related to indie rock (which is also probably different than what youre thinking).

Get the Emo mug.There are two types of emos. One considers itself genuine and the other a poser. They are virtually indistinguishable and both are equally tiresome to anyone who has managed to mature past using "rawr" and making claw hands.
So and so dresses like me and likes the same music, but they're not a real emo. They just saw it on tv and thought it was cool.
