This specimen of male finds himself trying to appear tough, stronger than he is and acts aggressively in an attempt to impress potential female mates in public. Though he may not overtly claim to be actively, or formerly a member of the various military special operations groups, he implies it with his "costume", aggressive demeanor and occasionally telling stories fights he's been in and describes how brave he would be in a gun fight.
