מַכְיָן (makyan)

Type: Noun
Definition: A streetwise tough guy. Someone who hits without hesitation and doesn’t overthink confrontation. Think: brawler, enforcer, someone you don’t mess with.
Origin: From the Hebrew root נ־כ־ה (to strike), with the initial נ dropped (as in היכה – he hit). The suffix -ן (-an) marks personality types, like שקרן (liar) or קשקשן (chatterbox). מַכְיָן (makyan) = “one who strikes.”

“Don’t mess with him, he’s a real מַכְיָן (makyan).”

“אל תתעסק איתו, הוא מַכְיָן אמיתי.”

Pulling a Makyah

Pulling a Makyah is when somebody decides they want to start a beef by being very toxic and mean, then they act like a victim and threaten to suicide. Typically this beef will last for weeks until the actual victim decides to kill the aggressor. After they will form a peace treaty that will be broken and the cycle repeats
