IF YOU'RE GOING TO VERBALLY ABUSE MY COMPATRIOTS IN PAIN, DO IT RIGHT!

the pants are not girl pants, they're made for guys.
not all of us cut ourselves.
not all of us sit sobbing all night.
no, not all girls like football captains.
and NO, we are not retarded.
not all of us come from the suburban middle class
some of us are perfectly normal, happy people who happen to wear black, enjoy pain, and have our hair over our eyes.

i think i'll go post something mean about jocks.
"that person is an emo" is incorrect.

Emo

A perfect three part mixture of punk, goth & suck.
I work with a guy who is a total emo. He updates his mood on myspace on a daily basis so others will know how he's feeling. 9 out of 10 times it's always some adjective for his self-inflicted depression. The really sad thing is he's 27 years old.

emo

The worst thing to arrive in heavy music and the counter-culture in over 10 years. By being all about non-conformity and dressing the way they do they've created a style, another facet for people to conform to. Also, why they fret on past relationships and experiences is beyond me, anyone from any class and any nationality can have abusive parents, can have been in bad relationships and so on. Doesn't matter what scene you're part of, it happens to everyone. Emo kids just decide to make their lives revolve around their problems rather than make the best of the hand they were dealt and overcome their troubles like everyone else. They don't need to dress the way they feel (crappy) and they definitely don't need to set their whiny, talentless singing, and their all-out screaming to "music" (if you could call it that) that lacks real composing and skill. And I've really had enough of their reverse mullets!
emo is a reverse-mullet dyed red, black and blonde, piercings wherever they can be put, skin tight pants, wearing their little sister's shirt, wearing enough belts for 3 people...etc,etc.

E-mo
Emo (or "emotional hardcore" 'e-mo') originated in the mid 1980's and has evolved in present day (2008) as a shadow of its former self.

It was born in Washington (USA) as a subgenre of hardcore punk which overlaid typically aggressive, political, rebellious music with introverted and personal lyrics which was reflected the persona of the bands.

Emo began its passage into mainstream music in the mid 1990s with the Indie movement which was exemplified by the likes of Fugazi.

Emo then accelerated its progression away from its hardcore punk origins towards 'mainstream' pop culture. The genre upheld the introverted lyrics which distinguished it from the hardcore punk movement of the 80s, and replaced its thrashier, more aggressive tempo with a blend of 'mainstream ' pop-punk and soft-rock.

Emo's hardcore roots are the central derivative of many post-hardcore (or current hardcore/metalcore/scream o etc) bands, which have taken the central hardcore thrash tone and introverted lyrics and combined them with metal, pop-punk and other 'mainstream' influences.

*The term 'core has also undergone a similar passage where it has been adopted as a suffix for a musical or cultural icon associated with emotional hardcore (eg metalcore, fashioncore, emocore).
Rites of Spring, One Last Wish, Fire Party, Beefeater, Gray Matter,Moss Icon, Fugazi.

'Post emo' includes Good Charlotte, Funeral for a Friend, Sunny Day Real Estate, My Chemical Romance, Junction 18, Something Corporate.
