The philosophy developed by the Byzantine philosopher Pontus after he published his thesis in the year 540 of the Second Age. It outlines highly anti alcoholic views and states that a state of drunkenness can be reached by evoking the Holy Spirit and certain Byzantine music. Although popular among the Byzantines in Popa and the surrounding area, it quickly gained opposition, with many factions claiming it's views were superstitious. It's wholescale rejection at the Council of Caldicka weakened the movement in 543, but influential nobles like Seraphina maintained its charisma, and from 545 it began to revive.
"Who is that in the lower bay?"
"That's Maglor, he's a follower of Pontanism, that's why he's been called to give his view."
"Pontanism is far too negative about alcohol , and in doing so they commit heresy against the Holy Spirit."
