A type of military attack where soldiers rush towards the enemy with bayonets, with the intended goal to either force the enemy off the field or make them fight in hand-to-hand combat with the bayonets.
In the Battle of Gettysburg in 1863, troops under the 20th Maine regiment conducted a bayonet charge against rebel troops to force them away from Little Roundtop.
