Reactive Expoxxing

A combination of reactive exposing and reactive doxxing: the perpetrator provokes the target, waits for a reaction, then publishes both selective evidence of the target’s reaction and the target’s personal information, presenting the package as a justified exposé. The goal is to destroy the target’s reputation and safety simultaneously, using the target’s own provoked outburst as the moral cover. Reactive expoxxing is a favored tactic of organized harassment campaigns, where the perpetrator can claim they were merely “documenting” a threat while actually orchestrating the situation that created the threat.

Example: “After months of baiting, she made a vague angry post. He screenshotted it, added her full name and employer, and posted the thread as an ‘exposé of online toxicity.’ Reactive expoxxing: provoke, wait, then annihilate.”

It starts with typing two whole files of code for weeks and absolutely no results, ends with adding cool features everyday. Progress is exponential.

Instances where exposure therapy is not usually recommended can include: Individuals who are experiencing suicidal thoughts. Individuals with a psychotic disorder. Individuals experiencing dissociation.

Bias of Exposing

A bias where individuals or groups engage in "exposing" others—revealing alleged wrongdoing, hypocrisy, or scandal—while being selectively blind to similar or worse behavior in their own side. The Bias of Exposing is what makes partisans obsessive about the other side's scandals and oblivious to their own. The Bias of Exposing is a form of motivated perception: we see clearly what serves our interests and are blind to what threatens them. It's the cognitive engine of hypocrisy, the fuel of selective outrage.
