The common practice of men, where after using a public restroom, instead of actually washing their hands, they simply slightly dampen them under the sink and then dry them on the pants or a paper towel. Thus giving the illusion that they did in fact wash their hands.

She ragged on you about washing your hands? Why didn't you do a courtesy wash?

the month subsequent to breaking up with someone during which the one who did the breaking up refrains from sexual activity with a third party unless the one who was dumped fucks someone else first

1. "Hey man, that chick wants your nuts. Are you going to bang her?"

"No man- I broke up with Leah last week and it's still her courtesy month."

2. "Dammit, Kristy just broke up with me and I heard she just got tag teamed by black guys!"

"I guess that whore doesn't believe in the courtesy month."

Ao3 author curse

An occurence in which a fanfiction author (typically writing on archiveofourown.org) gets into an extremely sticky situation, but said author's first priority is their fanfic. This event commonly leads into an authors note apologising for a hiatus that is obsurdly reasonable.

Examples of "sticky situations" include:
Getting stuck in a flood
Finals for school
Hurricanes taking out power
Pregnancy
Marriage
Accidentally drinking bleach
Having loved ones die
Going on vacation
Having your roommate take of their meds at once
Having your beta reader go to prison
Going to prison
Etc.

Synonyms include "Ao3 author syndrome"

"I started writing fanfiction a week ago and I'm already struggling from the ao3 author curse"

Courtesy Stall

The act in which a man using a public restroom will seperate himself by at least one stall as a courtesy to another man that is already established at a separate stall. This can be done either at a urinal or a traditional stall.

I walked into the bathroom and noticed that of the three urinals available, a man was occupying the one on the far left. I gave him a courtesy stall and went to the urinal on the far right as not to appear gay.

Courtesy Hug

When you're in a group of people, for example three persons and there's two of them you know well. The third one you haven't really been talking to but when you have to go, you hug that person too so it won't get awkward.

Yesterday I was talking to Matt and Emma, Lisa was there too. I had to leave, and hugged them, I gave Lisa a courtesy hug.
