Floating Tall Tee

n. a person of African American descent, wearing a really big shirt, often referred to as "Tall Tee".

The point at which when you happen to look outside and only see a shirt magically floating through the air. Not being able to see whos actually wearing the shirt, aka a floating tall tee.

A long t-shirt, reaching down to the wearer's knees.

This fashion trend originated many years ago in the poorer black neighborhoods, where families could not afford to buy new clothes, therefore younger kids wound up wearing clothes which no longer fit their older siblings and/or parents. Being several sizes too large, the shirts often reached the wearer's knees.

One of many current fashion trends derived from practices of lower-class memebers of society used several decades ago.

guy 2: No man, i ain't got no cash for a new shirt, so i wear my dad's old one even though it looks like a woman's nightgown on me!

Tall-top

A tall-top, not to be confused with a high-top, is another name for a sneaker boot that extends far above the ankle. What differentiates this footwear from a high-top is that it is much taller in height. It is, however, not a boot because it does not include a distinct heel and bears the look of a tall sneaker more than that of a boot. These sneakers are not very common, but in recent years have been popularized in men's sizes by athletic footwear companies for their versatility during the winter season. They're usually made more breathable to compensate for their height, but they also provide a contemporary look to the classic tall snow boot.

I copped the limited edition tall-tops the other day; I heard they're selling out quick. I can't say I regret it, but they're definitely not as comfortable as most of my other shoes so they're staying in the closet until the weather hits 40°.
