Typically, a digital carrot slicer runs on batteries, has more options and "features" than anyone really wants, costs too much, is difficult to use, provides the user with more information and precision than they need, and is less reliable compared to the low-tech tool.

Compared to pencil and paper for taking notes, a PDA is a digital carrot slicer.
