Jason: Nah man! He actually went over to her place, decked out on personal protective equipment. They maintained at least six feet of distance but became pretty close (figuratively speaking, of course). They're a quaranting now.

A nonsensical word created by immature high school students who need a way to "stand out" and distinguish themselves. Obviously these kids don't have enough personality to do this through any other way than posting "quating" on facebook statuses and forming a secret club about the word. It gives them a sense of identity although its superficial because the identity is essentially built around something unreal.
