A Climate Hawk is a person who understands that climate change is a threat to our safety and security. Climate Hawks favor taking aggressive action to neutralize the threat. Many Climate Hawks are environmentalists, but one does not need to be an environmentalist to be a Climate Hawk.

Climategate

A now thoroughly discredited attempt to discredit climate science, in which illegally obtained emails of scientists at the UK's climate research center at the University of East Anglia were carefully cherry-picked for out-of-context words and phrases that could be manipulatively interpreted as damning, and distributed to the media through, among other methods, fossil-fuel industry funded denialist organizations.

The scientists involved had no difficulty explaining the contexts behind the cherry-picked words and terms, and all were exonerated by subsequent investigations. Unfortunately, however, many more-casual observers who only followed the media frenzy resulting from the release of the emails remain unaware of the resolution of the matter, and still naively believe that Climategate "proved" malfeasance among climatologists.

The hackers who stole the emails from the University of East Anglia's servers have never been identified.

Climate

Although commonly understood as the current goings on in weather, the 'climate' actually refers to the social situation:

Ie. what we're doing next, where we're going, who's in the situation, or what the vibe or situation is like in the situation your talking about.
This word is usually used in a situation where there isn't much to talk about other than the 'climate'
Cimply put, the climate is the situation
So, what's the climate like at McDonald's

So, what do you think of this climate

Climate change

Trees being clear cut for development, farming, or any other purpose isn't climate change, it's just simply people that don't think they have enough dollar signs (developers especially). It's people that don't think they're part of the problem, they have a more positive view of themselves (though they don't see their view of themselves as narcissistic).
As long as people see dollar signs where a family of trees stands, trees are endangered. The kinds of people that clear cut them aren't going to respect them any time soon, they're more concerned about the respect they think they will get once they make money out of the trees (as money does come from paper, which comes from trees). The trees are the underdogs, not the people. Climate change is a fictional way of thinking, a way for humans to say they're in control of everything in the environment.

Climate Overcompensation Syndrome

noun, Psychoanalysis.

1. a pronounced striving to neutralize and conceal the effect of extreme climate on one's person by substituting for it with opposite behaviors.

Examples include wearing shorts in the middle of winter in Minnesota or drinking hot cocoa on a 60 degree day in Florida. This can also include remarks such as, "40 below really isn't that cold in Fargo" or "100 degrees is quite comfortable; we don't have the humidity here in Tucson."
Mark's severe Climate Overcompensation Syndrome led him to shopping for a parka after he felt unprepared for the 50 degree morning in we had last week here in Miami.
