The Backrooms is an urban legend, Internet meme, and creepypasta that tells the tale of an endless maze of randomly generated office rooms. It is characterized by the smell of wet carpet, walls with a monochromatic tone of yellow, and buzzing fluorescent lights.

The backrooms

A maze. Mostly known for "level 0" which is displayed as a maze of mono yellow walls, moist wet carpet and fluorescent yellow lights. It became famous from a YouTube series, "Kane pixels". It has 9223372036854775807 levels, that level being the supposed last one. It's displayed as a large, cold spiral staircase.
There are also creatures, called entities in the backrooms. The scariest one by far is "the smiler". But for me, mutated bacteria is the scariest.

The way you enter the backrooms is by "no-clipping" through the walls/floor. As long as you can walk through a solid thing you can enter the backrooms.

1. "Hey, did ya hear what happened to Kane? He won't answer my calls"

mental backrooms

When you've been reading a little bit too much about liminal horror and you decide to get high, in your mind you may find yourself visiting the mental backrooms. They take a different form for each individual, but common sightings are empty places from one's childhood or recently viewed liminal spaces. Your mind is still usable at this time, but the only visualizations you see are of these backrooms. Don't worry about who you find inside. The effects last until you aren't high anymore.

I just took a tablet and all I could think of was an abandoned office, I think I found my mental backrooms! There's someone in here with me.
