Etymology:
Derived from the fictional
female title character, Xena, from the 1990's television franchise "Xena: Warrior
Princess." This adaptation of Xena as a moniker for heroin is a clever reference to Xena notably being the heroine of the franchise. The spelling of "heroine" is the same as that of the drug ("heroin") with only an addition of a letter "e" to the end.
