In the text-based RPG GemStone IV, a HW is shorthand for halfling warrior. Unwittingly ignorant players who aren't versed in the game's lore will sometimes use HW to refer to the Hinterwilds which is a hunting area in the game. HiWi is the correct abbreviation for this area.
