STATE-DEPENDENT MEMORY or STATE-DEPENDENT LEARNING is the phenomenon through which memory retrieval is most efficient when an individual is in the same state of consciousness as they were when the memory was formed.
The term is often used to describe memory retrieval while in states of consciousness produced by psychoactive drugs – most commonly, alcohol, but has implications for mood or non-substance induced states of consciousness as well.
Unlike CONTEXT-DEPENDENT MEMORY, which involves an individual's external environment and conditions, state-dependent memory applies to the individual's internal conditions.
For example, while context-dependent memory might refer to the idea that taking a test in the same room that an individual studied in will make it easier to retrieve those memories, state-dependent learning refers to the idea that if an individual always studied for a test while slightly caffeinated, it will most likely be easiest to recall what they studied during the test if they are at a similar level of caffeination.

1: "Why are you always trying to control situations, that can't possibly be controlled? You are just constantly in low-vibration state broski."
2: "Man, that's probably due to my state-dependent memory, it is a habit written in there, I use to get pissed off a lot. And you know what? That's really pissing me off."

The moment one of your best friends decides to reveal a personal sexual preference while trying to fill an awkward silence.
Passing Memorial Park Cemetery
"Hey, we're passing my grandfathers grave."
"I like to be tea bagged..."
"Dude... You approached the line, crossed it, and didn't look back."

Someone who is able to read a paragraph of a book/text and recite it at any time using Fail-graphic Memory, thus whilst it is awesome, they are incapable utilizing the information in real life situations. Making them utterly useless.

Michael: Hey man remember that long 'arse' paragraph on physics that allowed us to change the molecular format of gravity?
John: Sure! *recites said paragraph*.
Michael: Ah, fuck i dont understand that, since your remmeber it, use it.
John: I don't know how, due to my lack of ability to employ the said information to real life problems. I suffer from Fail-graphic Memory.

Only being able to remember particular fragments of memories or ideas from an earlier time where the context of such memories are no longer recoverable.
I had a really good idea last night, but can't seem to remember what it is. It must be a bad case of memory recollection fragmentation.
The guy has a really bad case of memory recollection fragmentation. It took all month to engineer the tissue to CPU membrane but forgot a critical step.
Old age produces memory recollection fragmentation. Most of our patients have trouble integrating life's memories into a coherent timeline.
