A play on the largely Chinese-American concept of Tiger Mom, a term coined by Yale Law School professor Amy Chua in her 2011 memoir "Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother". That term draws parallels to strict parenting styles typically enforced throughout households in East Asia, South Asia and Southeast Asia.
Panther Dad is a similar (albeit, intended to be a more relaxed version) of this concept, coined by an African-American YouTuber in 2020.
