plutonic

Relating to:
1 Pluto, planetoid
2 Pluto, god of the underworld
3 ploutus (Greek: wealth, riches) as in plutocracy (rule by the wealthy)

Often confused with Platonic (non-sexual love) and relating to the philosopher Plato who wrote on the nature of love.

1. Astrological. "Plutonic" describes the relative positions of Pluto in a person's natal chart or in synastry where the strongest influences relate to Pluto or the 8th House (ruled by Pluto). Pluto is associated with transformation, rebirth, hidden truth, control (esp. monetary), obsession and strategy.

2. As a pun, a "plutonic relationship" is one where the main attractor is wealth.

3. As a pun, a Plutonic relationship may refer to one that is:
cold, very distant (from the planetoid)
dead, buried (from the god of the underworld)
atomic, explosive (from the use of Plutonium in bombs distinct from the modern bomb which utilises Uranium (named after Uranus) - the more obvious pun may interfere with the conveyance of meaning).
1. Astrologer: Your natal charts show your relationship is mainly Plutonic; your greatest strengths lie in your ability to constantly and mutually rebirth your relationship, reinvigorating it and keeping it fresh.

2. You might describe our relationship as plutonic... he loves that I'm rich.

3. She moved further away because of work, but she might as well have moved to another planet. Our relationship is more Plutonic now - just a few degrees above absolute zero.
