An individual who is incredibly good at martial arts and fighting, as well as having black belts in many martial arts. Also used to describe an individual with a superhuman amount of striking power.

Lucas is such a hearning, yesterday I saw him knock one of the best students at his dojo to the ground.

hearing aid

"Hearing aid" is a slang term for "lip reading". Also knonw as "speechreading", it is a communication technique of understanding speech by watching a person's lip movements, facial expressions, and gestures, which can be enhanced by any residual hearing. It's a skill used by many people with hearing loss but also by the general public in noisy environments to aid comprehension. The technique is not foolproof, as many sounds look alike on the lips, and a complete understanding relies on context and other clues.

At the crowded café, I had to rely on my hearing aid—you know, lip reading—just to catch snippets of the conversation over all that noise.

like herding ferrets

As ferrets can be rather excitable and jumpy, trying to herd them (or get them under control) becomes a next to impossible task as they dart this way and that.

Oh my god, trying to organise a night out with that lot is like herding ferrets.

Sleep Herding

A pastoralist model of sleep, whereby we catch chunks of free-range sleep as it wanders by, rather than the agricultural model we are used to, farming huge 8-hour tracts of open nighttime.

I only got 2 hours of sleep last night, but that's ok; i'm practicing Sleep Herding. I'll grabs a few naps later today, then maybe 4 hours tomorrow.
