As a byproduct of probably being too stoned. Your buddies call you shot for either saying something dumb or if you are late or forget to go to an event. Additionally, if you are not aware of something that is just basic common knowledge your friends should call you out for being shot.

Shot is a collective term for small balls or pellets, often made of lead.
