Americanized

When something or someone from a foreign culture is adapted/changed or adapts/changes itself to allign with american culture and/or american standarts. (usually also comes with the underlying perception of american culture as being either superior or "the standart", also read "US Defaultism")
It's a neutral term in itself, but it is most commonly used as a negative in discussions about american imperialism/soft power and it's impact on foreigners and their cultures, products and exports.

Another word used with similar meaning (but more broadly about "global north" cultural impact in other cultures) is "colonized"

Obs: People (usually from the "global north") talking about the same concept in defense of a foreign standart while actually not fully knowledgeable of the cultural context of said standart, usually uses "westernized".
"I had to send my son back to our village for a while to remember his roots, he was becoming too americanized"

"Friend 1#: It's 32ºC outside, please put on a top and shorts or you'll boil;
Friend 2#: I just don't like exposing myself like that;
Friend 1#: And you're going under the blasting sun with jeans and a hoodie like a wattpad protagonist? stop acting americanized and go put on some decent weather-appropriate clothes then"

"That gas station is so cheap they americanized, now you gotta put your own gas!"

"I hate americanized translations, they only loosely translate the words but not the sentence structure and even make up ones that just doesn't exist in our vocabulary"

American Punishment

A punishment where one physically attacks or abuses someone to such a degree to the point where they are bleeding or have suffered multiple injuries, often serious. Sometimes accompanied by extreme insults revolving around being a shitty person
When I asked my girlfriend if I could give her abusive dad an American Punishment, she very enthusiastically said yes and that she’ll have sex with me 5 days a week if I did that.

Black American English (BAE)

Black American English (BAE) is a legitimate, culturally rooted, and rule-governed dialect of American English that developed historically within Black American communities. It possesses its own consistent grammar, pronunciation patterns, vocabulary, and cultural expressions. Linguists recognize BAE as a fully developed and systematic variety of English—not as “slang,” “broken English,” or “incorrect English.” BAE is shaped by Black Americans’ linguistic heritage and the history of Black communities in the United States. As an ongoing cultural innovation, BAE functions both as a mode of communication and as a marker of identity, community, and artistic expression. Its distinct phonological, syntactic, and lexical features reflect the influence of Black American linguistic traditions, shaped by the sociopolitical conditions of enslavement and segregation, as well as the continuous creativity within Black American culture. Like any other recognized English dialect, BAE follows internally consistent grammatical rules and serves as a symbol of cultural identity, solidarity, and resilience. It has also significantly influenced broader American English through its impact on music, literature, slang, and digital communication.
Many linguists argue that Black American English (BAE) should be taught and understood as a legitimate dialect with its own rules rather than dismissed as informal speech.

Pick-me American

A Pick-me American is someone who feels insecure or ashamed for being an American citizen and dunks on the US and fellow Americans to get validation from people in other countries. Some will make videos on social media, blanketing the whole US as a monolithic hellhole with no diversity in state, culture, or ethnicity. They harmfully project their personal experience like it's true everywhere in the States. This creates a false view of Americans abroad, even if it's skewed by Pick-me's self-hatred, causing prejudice or misunderstanding about Americans or the US. Pick-me's have a rose-colored lens when viewing the world vs. the US and tend to cherry-pick topics. They think culture (European)abroad is only authentic. Ignoring cultures like Appalachian, Cajun, Tejano, and indigenous people whose history is older than the founding of the US because it's not Eurocentric. Nothing validates them more than having Europeans agree with them while they bash other Americans. Some pick-me's try hard to show how un-American they are, but when they say something stupid or false and get called out, they say, "I'm just an American🤪" to save themselves.

Americans who want to travel or move abroad are fine. What's wrong is Americans who go abroad and say they're Canadians, bash fellow Americans, or apologize for being born in the US. The US and its people aren't perfect, but what you see online can be skewed to show the bad and wrong, ignoring the good aspects, of which there are many!
Pick-me American examples

Vanessa said calmly, " I don't know why the US always has to be different from the rest of the world. Unlike other Americans; I use metric, not imperial!"

Other Americans watching this pitiful display." Who is going to tell her that we actually use a mixed system like Canada and the UK and use Metric for things such as science, etc, and use US customary, not imperial."

An American Tiktoker trying to earn pity points"Stupid Americans, it's so horrible how they want to put hot sauce on a schnitzel they paid for!"

only to delete her post after getting called out by others.
