The phrase entered the pop culture vocabulary through a 1998 Nike ad featuring All-Star baseball players Greg Maddux, Tom Glavine, and Mark McGwire. In it the two skinny pitchers go on an intense training program to become home run hitters like beefy Mark McGwire.

long tab

Refers to the Special Forces tab, which is awarded to soldiers who have successfully completed the U.S. Army's Special Forces Qualification Course, or "Q-Course." The term "long tabber" refers to a soldier who wears the Special Forces tab as well as the Green Beret - Generally bad-ass, combat-hardened, mother fuckers.

Hey Bill, don't fuck with that guy... he's a long tabber!

In Family Guy, Peter says this because it is the only English he thinks the Japanese baseball player will understand, and he can`t afford to pay for him.

All of the people that say it's poor, or ghetto are retarded..and so are the people that say it's rich. like most places, it has it's rich and poor spots. Nobody on Long Island thinks that they're part of the city, so shut up. Long island also isn't considered "upstate" Fucking ignorant bastards. In my eyes, there is upstate, NYC, and then Long Island.
