It is recognized for its rather intense partying atmosphere, prompting the Buffalo News to publish a front page article titled "The nightmare of living in University Heights" (Sept 5, 2015.) The district is comprised of a series of streets including custer, west northrup, winspear, merrimac and others. Due to its location between four buffalo schools, a wide range of students trot the area, with the bulk coming from UB.
