kootenay time

The process in which it takes an extra hour to do anything.

It also incurrs that the person who is "late", (in quotes as they are only following kootenay time, not late as others may say) also lives in the beautiful area surrounded by the rocky montains called "the Kootenays"

The airy nature of the residents is probably due to the gorgeous surroundings they are inhabited in so they really don't care about the rest of the world ; they are on Kootenay time.
Stoner1: Hey budday! I need that bag quick I'm getting low!

The Before Time

"The Before Time" is a reference to the 1966 Star Trek episode "Miri" in which the Enterprise encounters a planet inhabited only by children, due to a pandemic infecting and eventually killing all the adults. The children refer to "the before time" as the time when adults were present.

This episode was parodied in the South Park Episode "Wacky Molestation Adventure" in which the children claim to be molested and are subsequently removed from their adult guardians.

In 2020, the phrase has come to mean the time before the COVID-19 pandemic hit, when people could freely associate and go to bars and parties.
"In "The Before Time" we had a buffet lunch every day. Now we just stare at each other over zoom.

bonus time

The typically brief period of mild drunkenness that occurs the morning/afternoon after a night of good drinking. Bonus time can be longer or more pronounced if one has to wake up before noon, often for silly things such as work or family.

Trough times

Pronounced 'troff', this word is the exact opposite of 'peak times', its antithesis. Used when something bad has happened, or when you are at one of life's lowest points. Used only by upper class, well-educated people, as 'trough' actually refers to the lowest point on a wave, such as a radio wave, and 'peak' refers to the highest point. The difference between the peak and trough gives you the amplitude. But this is not a physics lesson. Can also be used sarcastically when someone is talking about something that happened to them which could be considered trivial or pathetic.
Jamie: Oh God i just stabbed myself with a glass rod, have to go to hospital.

Miguel: Trough times Jamie, trough times.

Will: Yesterday I was doing this massive essay and I was working on it for hours, when suddenly my door flew open and my brother ran in pretending to be my mum! He looked like a downie!

Miguel: Cool story bro

Jamie: Trough times.
