The placeholder for a numerical value when the program handling the math fails to understand such vague values. Usually when using this value in a game for configuration (like bullet count and mag count), it can screw up the functions using those variables. NaN is short for "Not a Number". NaN is typically not used often in sentences, as it is primarily digital speaking.
