A poorly managed restaurant that is understaffed or has poorly trained waitstaff, such that you get a menu and maybe some water, but they forget you exist after that.

OK, it's been 20 minutes since we got our menu... and no food. This place is a menus-and-water restaurant. Let's bail for some Taco Bell.

Rentals

n~ slang. Abbreviation of Parentals meaning Parents. Probably derived from "parental consent".

One of the first recorded uses of the word Parentals was used in the film "Bring it on" in 2000:
"I can't mack on you in front of the parentals" so the shortened version "Rentals" is likely to have come into circulation after that time.

1.Timothy was unable to purchase the deerstalker hat he so wished to buy, for his rentals would not part with the one hundred and twenty pounds he required to obtain such a desired object.
